Football 2019

For juniors, the pupils will be taught pre-competition routines which include relaxing, warm-up and stretching exercises. The players will also be taught team formation, offensive and defensive skills. In addition the players will learn to enjoy the game by playing fairly and showing the sportsmanship spirit. The players will develop their character by persevering and being resilient, encouraging each other and forging ahead despite any adversity.

After which, the pupils will be taught basic individual ball skills such as basic passing, stopping, dribbling and heading. Along with the individual skill aspects, pupils will also undertake relationship management exercises as the skills taught will have to be applied in relation to their fellow players, hence allowing the pupils to better work as a team and to respect both their teammates and opponents during the game. By actively training the players and steadily increasing the difficulties of the skills taught, players will also develop self-confidence and be instilled with a can-do attitude that allows for them to believe in themselves and their potential.

For seniors, once pupils have undergone the previous emphasis on individual skills and its relation to their teammates, we will begin to develop the pupils’ basic set pieces and formation which include offensive and defensive corner, attacking and defending a free kick and corners. This would serve to imbue in the pupils responsibility in themselves and others as well as the general play of the sport. It is envisioned that this will also foster a team spirit as players will have to work together to either set up an attacking free kick or a defensive play. This portion of the training will actively emphasis on the value of teamwork and highlight to the pupils that there is no i in team.

Pupils will be actively taught the territorial games aspect of Attack Vs Defense. Pupils will have to put into practice all the skills that they have been taught throughout the year to participate in a game of football. Pupils are required to show open-mindedness in being able to accept the differences of their teammates and to work together as one with them. It will seek to condition the players into practicing their skills and knowledge acquired and channel it into a collective force as a team.

Our coaches and teachers will be there for our players guiding them through training and ensuring that the players are the best that they can be.
